Attleborough Boxing Club's National Success

Santiago Weaver did Attleborough Boxing Club proud as he returned home from Rotherman with a national title!

The 16 year old claimed his gold medal after beating Connor Taylor of Jimmy Egan's Boxing Academy on a split points decision in The Junior Development Championship under 75 kg Final on Saturday 10th of October. Weaver started strong giving Taylor a standing 8 count with an over hand right in the first round, in a show of strength, he out powered the much taller opponent. Weaver stayed close working well on the inside throughout the 2nd and 3rd rounds. The young boxer was overjoyed as the MC announced his victory.

Head Coach Jon Dennis said "A National Title is a great achievement for Santiago and the club, Santiago has worked extremely hard, putting in many hours in the gym and has massive potential. We are now looking forward to the NABC's where he will compete for a 2nd national title!" Club chairman Colin Kilby added "As chairman of ABC, it was a pleasure to watch Santiago box. He has trained and worked tirelessly. It was a well deserved win and I couldn't be prouder of him."

Meanwhile Connor Holloway and Michael Jordan were both crowned Eastern Counties champions after their wins in Eastbourne on Saturday 3rd of October. 20 year old Holloway and 23 year old Jordan have now moved onto National competition in their bids to be crowned under 56 kg and under 81 kg National Senior Novice Champions, claiming yet another double victory on Sunday the 11th of October at Aldershot Barricks in their pre 1/4 final bouts. Roni Dean will join Jordan on Saturday 10th of October starting her bid for gold in the quarter finals whilst Holloway receives a bye straight into the semi finals.

Head coach Jon Dennis Said "the boxers are going from strength to strength, they are well placed and well prepared ready for the later stages of the competition."

Attleborough Boxing Club Presentation Evening

A great evening was had by all on Saturday 5th September. The clubs 5th annual Presentation evening was buzzing as boxers, parents, sponsors, supporters, coaches and committee members celebrated last years success'.

Club President Richard Caston proudly spoke of the Club's state of the art extension and the dedication given by all of the voluntary staff and coaches that keep the club running. Simply stating "The reason we have created what we have and the reason we work so hard is for you, our boxers"

Colin Kilby reiterated how proud he was to be Chairman of such a fantastic club and thanked all of the sponsors who without, the club would not be able to move forward in the way it does. He hoped that everyone was looking forward to a very busy season ahead and was pleased to announce that the club has two home shows planned and a dinner show that will be held for the first time at Wymondham Rugby Club, adding "We are also looking forward to hopefully expanding further by looking at getting permission to build a new toilet block along with changing rooms, showers and a treatment room".

Head Coach Jon Dennis said "The competition squad had all worked extremely hard, had a fantastic season and it was a very difficult decision picking winners in many of the categories this year"
