Honoury Vice President Danny Nobbs

Danny Nobbs

Danny was a very keen footballer and cricketer before a motorbike accident left him paralysed from the chest down. Undeterred by his new life in a wheelchair, Danny began his athletics career in wheelchair racing, completing the Great North Run 3 times, and then moving into field events, specialising in the shot put.

3 times the British Wheelchair Athletics Association’s ‘Athlete of the Year’, Danny was selected for Team GB in the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing and in the World Championships in New Zealand in 2011. Only a change in regulation by the world governing body took away the chance to compete in the London 2012 Paralympics, but their subsequent removal of Danny’s shot put event from the Rio 2016 Games has led to a new opportunity in the javelin.

We wish Danny well on his road to Rio ...

Jack Brown

Jack Brown

Jack brown entered Attleborough Boxing Club following behind his brother and sister. Jack was shy, his confidence low and he was carrying excess weight. Jack quietly and meekly joined in with the training wearing big baggy T-shirts, his shyness and self consciousness preventing him from speaking to anyone. He just wanted to lose weight.

As time passed Jack become comfortable with all of the coaches and other members of the team, he opened up, he felt accepted and starting enjoying socialising and training with the rest of Team Attleborough. Jack's confidence grew leaps and bounds as did his fitness. Jacks long term ambition of joining the army started to feel more of a reality.

Jack became a true athlete competing for the club and became an integral part of all that Team Attleborough stands for ... support, honesty, integrity, self belief and determination.

In 2011 Jack achieved his biggest dream successfully joining the army, his family and head coach stood as one at Jacks's passing out ceremony all proud of the exceptional role model that Jack had become.

Jack now continues his love of boxing competing for the army and always finding time when on leave to enjoy training alongside the rest of Team Attleborough. Jack is proud to state, Attleborough boxing club was instrumental in helping him achieve his dream.
