Talented boxers wow crowd once again at Spring Home Show

Once again the Connaught Hall was packed to busting point with a high spirited crowd, the atmosphere was electric from the start. The talent and enthusiasm of the boxers being higher than ever with 19 action packed bouts.

The night started with 3 skills rounds Harry King-Tomlin kicked off the night with a great bout against Maldon Academy’s Harry Brooks they both showed good effort. Paul Willett was on next against Norwich City’s Matthew Page, Paul showed confidence and strength in all 3 rounds.

Then last but definitely not least was a very enjoyable bout from Corban Sewell even though Corban had a slight height difference against Charlie Collings of Norwich City ABC at no point did he let that hold him back the determination and courage were a joy to watch.

The first competitive bout of the night saw Freddie Collings of Norwich City ABC take on Muhammad Ahmad from Berinsfield ABC, Muhammad started the 1st round strong but Freddie put up a strong fight to win with a split decision.

The next bout also from Norwich City ABC saw Joe Pickford take on Teddy Anderson of Maldon evenly matched but Teddy took the glory with another split decision.

The only girl bout of the night proved to be one of the favourites of the crowd with 13yr old Daelarrna Blackwell showing some very controlled punches and gritty determination against Danielle Blake of Berinsfield ABC which gained her a very crowd pleasing win. Attleborough’s Charlie Connaughton’s bout against Finlay James of Billericay ABC saw Charlie work well but Finlay put up a strong fight to take the win.

Louis Thomas of Norseman came out from the bell with an awesome punch but Muhammed Khan of Peterborough Police came back with some hurtful punches this was the start of an extremely exciting bout which saw Muhammed take the win by a split decision.

Just as the crowd were getting their breathe back, out came Cley Nichols of Kingfisher ABC and his bout against Kaleb Roberton-Howard of Eastgate definitely got the crowd excited yet again with both boxers landing some superb hurtful punches which saw Cley being given a standing count in the 2nd much to his annoyance, the 3rd round was also action packed and the win was given to Kaleb in the blue corner.

Attleborough’s Marc Riley (Rusty) was on next this was his final fight before joining the Army and he definitely gave everyone a crowd pleasing fight to remember with the home crowd supporting him with great enthusiasm. An electrifying bout against Kingsheath’s Patrick Smith ended with a split decision given to the away corner.

Carl Rollin from St Oysth had his work cut out against home boxer Ezra Arenyeka, both boxers traded some big blows from the start in a very tough bout but Ezra proved too much for Carl and there was no doubt who the winner was with an unanimous win given to Ezra.

Home boxer Carl Bevan fought a courageous fight against Ryan Bowen of Trumpington ABC with a standing count in the 2nd round and finished at the end of the 3rd with a unanimous win for Ryan.

The crowd were also treated to the Norfolk Elite Final under 60kg against Henry Potter of Kingfisher and Danny Perry of Norwich City. A very exciting fight with both showing some class boxing. Danny was given a much deserved win.

Attleborough’s Bobby Weston was given a win by TKO after Reece Cattermole of Patricks corner called a stop to the fight at the end of the 2nd round. Both boxers threw some heavy punches throughout the 1st and 2nd rounds.

Once again Boston’s Tommy Upsall was matched against home boxer Connor Holloway, both boxers gave their all with some superb boxing. Much to the delight of a very excited crowd. Connor finished the fight with a never ending stampede of punches to earn him a win and bout of the night.

The audience also watched Noel Smith of Kingsheath lose to Bradley Rae of Bridgewater in another exciting fight. Jake James of Bridgewater had a very convincing win over Jack Martin of Maldon. Aaron Mcdonnell from Bridgewater was awarded a win against Ryan Weador of Trumpington which gave Bridgewater their 3rd win of the night. The final bout of the night saw Robin Mcgregor of Maldon win with a split decision against Kieran Cocker of Peterborough ABC.

A big thank you to all the clubs that attended especially those that travelled long distances. All the volunteers, coaches, catering staff, club sponsors and all the spectators who all helped to make this yet another fantastic show.
Now to prepare for the summer show at Wymondham Rugby Club on the 20th May, which will be the biggest and best show to date.
